The use of scarves dates back as far as ancient Rome. The Romans were the first to use them, but only to wipe their neck and face from sweat in a hot climate. Later the scarf became a widely used fashion accessory worn by both men and women. And today I can hardly imagine a wardrobe without one. (..more)
This week the sun broke through the clouds, allowing people to overflow terraces while leaving their winter coats at home. Everybody’s walking around with sunglasses on, women start to show off their legs in skirts and summer jackets are pulled out of the closet; it’s spring! Thanks to the rising temperatures people and their (extravagant) accessories are now uncovered, out in the open and much easier to spot. So, get inspired by these photos and enjoy the start of spring! (..more)
I love this spring in Amsterdam for many reasons: long bright days, warm wind, getting your cheeks sun-kissed, eating ice-cream on the street, getting rid of gloves while riding a bike and letting your bare neck catch the first sunrays.. Remember those thick winter sweaters you used to wear during the cold days in Amsterdam?Seems, they are just too cozy to get rid of when the springtime comes; therefore stylish Dutchies wear them as an outerwear. So, ice-cream, winter sweaters, and lots of bare necks, – my second dose of Amsterdam Street Style shots for Overdose.am for you to judge. (..more)
When you invite people to an exceptional venue for a fashion show – the old church in the middle of the red light district – you can bet on it they will do their best to correspond with the location by showing off their fabulous fashion sense. Obviously this is what happened at last Monday’s Claes Iversen show. So instead of the usual runway photos, I focused on the fashion crowd and zoomed in on all kinds of accessories. From odd and hairy, to fab and shiny: enjoy this treat! (..more)
I’ve been interested in street fashion for quite a long time now. After all, as Carine Roitfeld says, street fashion is real fashion now. But being a foreigner who loves Paris and Parisian style way too much, I was not sure what to expect from the streets of Amsterdam when I first stepped on the ground of the Dutch capital. However, it didn’t take me long to realize how many different but fascinatingly stylish in their own unique way people there are here. That drives me to try to capture all of the interesting ones each day and share their inspiring style ideas with you. (..more)

If summer/festival street style fashion inspiration is what you are looking for, check out these Shoeless photos, selected by us, taken by De Fotomeisjes. The weather was decent and the music was good, so most people had a smile on their face while showing off their attire. This weekend was the last summer weekend of 2011 for Trouw, as Amsterdam’s most underground club is closing for a month in order to improve the restaurant and other facilities. Is one month closed enough time away to hold an emotional (temporary) closing party with all resident DJs? If you look at the pictures below, the answer is obviously yes, or at least it is if you have such dedicated fans as Trouw does. De Fotomeisjes took the pictures, we selected twelve fashionable snapshots. (..more)
The puddles evaporated, the temperature went up and fashion heaven literally opened. Models came outside without ruining their perfectly coiffed hair and the blogger scene came out of their closet to Play & Pose for Charlotte Kan’s project. Everyone seemed much happier. And so was I, because finally I could (..more)
