Sietse Bakker. You might not have heard of him (yet), but in a short period of time the man is becoming some sort of cult legend around Amsterdam. He's the kind of guy every girl wants to be with and every man wants to be. Most recently, Sietse has been involved in some weather forecasting and festival related activity. Basically, he tells us when it's time to officially embrace the sun (De Zon) in Amsterdam. We asked him some questions about his remarkable mission. (..more)

Local Rockstars: Mister Freeky unites twisted minds in Amsterdam

Jan 29, 2014 |  by  |  Event, Music

Mister Freeky is our new best friend in town. An animal who comes to take over parties and injects everybody with pure adrenaline. Mister Freeky is the kind of driver you know doesn't bring you to the expected destination, but to a way better place, unexpectedly. This guy allows you to experience the night that you daydream about. We managed to meet up with the man, and ask him a few questions about his forthcoming Freeky Night this Friday. (..more)

Local Rockstars: Why Jorn Liefdeshuis wants four more days per week

Jan 22, 2014 |  by  |  Music

He has an awesome last name (‘Lovehouse’) and his awesomeness doesn’t stop there. Jorn Liefdeshuis breathes music. He’s a Trouw resident and has his own romantic electronic music party called Pixel, but did you know he also owns a booking agency and works for DJ Broadcast? We met up for some tea and even though we were both moody because of the dark winter days we still had a lovely chat. (..more)

Local Rockstars: Alex Salvador about house capturing the essence of love

Every kid that loves house music could definitely like Alex Salvador from Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! (label and legendary parties). Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! recently had its 4th birthday which gave me an opportunity to interview Alex. After talking to him for a while, two things became perfectly clear: Alex really has a warm love for house music and he has a pretty cool studio. (..more)

Mees Dierdorp has been creating waves beyond boundaries from the moment he started composing music – and his broad love of the artistic side of the spectrum shines through on his new album, Wild Window. Local Rockstars: Partying it up with Mudde

Local Rockstars: Partying it up with Mudde

Nov 28, 2013 |  by  |  Music

Mudde is one of Amsterdam’s finest. He’s part of the Boston Strip crew and tells me he loves deep house and dubby techno. Sounds like a formula for success to me. It’s almost weird he hasn’t been in our Local Rockstar series yet, so it was about time someone interviewed him. And I didn’t mind to be the one to do it at all. Get ready for some action! (..more)

Undoubtedly you've heard his name buzzing around: Olaf Stuut. He released his debut album Equilibre this year and is rockin' it up all over town. Local Rockstars: Tom Trago in reverse

Oct 17, 2013 |  by  |  Event, Music, Spots

From all the Amsterdam based DJs I interviewed, Tom Trago is probably the one that needs the least introduction. He has travelled all over the world, runs his own label, Voyage Direct, and is now awarded to be Trouw’s resident of the month. Next to all this Tom also made time to produce his new album ‘The Light Fantastic’, which will be released on October 21th. I got a tiny little bit of his spare time to ask him some questions.
