Last Sunday we hosted a little get-together called De Zon, together with our friends BandjeBandje and Pleinvrees. The sun was shining, music was playing, people were smiling.. The festival season has officially started. Highlights of the day were a great set by German superstar DJ Oliver Koletzki, the huge amount of beautiful people and the five minutes of warm rain at the very end of the day. Summer is on people! We hope you like this French/scottish bagel! A song about a ‘Piscine’, French for swimming pool. Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains are a group of guys with Frenchman Frànçois in front. The rest of the guys are called the Atlas Mountains just because they like these mountains in the north of Africa. For the Indiestad festival they visited Amsterdam to play in Paradiso, so we arranged a exclusive session with them. While Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains played their track Piscine in the office of Hammerstein lawyers in the centre of Amsterdam we filmed them while Sjaan Flikweert from New dance company dances on their music. Cheerful tracks filled with vocals and deep danceable party records. HAARBAARBAAR‘s style ranges from deep and tech house to indie dance and nu-disco. Or how he and many others like to call it: underground pop. After quickly growing a fan base online he had to make the switch to real dance floors, which finnaly happened in the summer of 2011. Rekorder has a history of 52 parties in the past 5 years. Right after his high school exams, Tom van Wijk decided to be responsible for the school’s final party. Something that would determine the rest of his professional carrier. The whole purpose of throwing these Rekorder events was to bring the house and techno scene together back in the day. Techno had a reputation of parties being held in dark basements, while house lived in the upper ground of the scene. (..more)

The professional warehouse ravers of Chasing the Hihat are gearing up for their second outdoor festival: KRÄK Festival 2012. After a series of illegal and semi-illegal indoor editions they are taking their techno inspired sound outside once again. International headliners such as Alan Fitzpatrick and Lutzenkirchen will headline the day, with local heroes such as Joop Junior providing support. There will also be a second area featuring a techno silent disco, hosted by Lazy Sundays’ and headlined by Germany’s Hannes Fischer. Expect top notch sound quality and pumping beats! (..more)

Australia’s Boy & Bear are the new Mumford & Sons, and then some more. Everyone will hear the similarities with 2009′s hype, but for me their songs just feel a bit more complete. Hits aside, I never really got into the whole album, whereas Boy & Bear’s Moonfire has been playing from front to back for a while now. After recent well received gigs at Motel Mozaique (Rotterdam) and in Bitterzoet they are ready to take over Amsterdam’s pop temple Paradiso in August. Go see now they’re still small! (..more)
Wunderbar is a concept that grew from the minds of the Bar27 crew. They wanted to create something crazy, something spectacular, something big: a circus for freaks. Rousing music, wild performers and burlesque acts form the world of Circus Wunderbar, a place where everyone can let go and feel completely free. After the complete mayhem that they brought to the Melkweg on December 27th, the mad collective are now on tour. Next stops: beach club Woodstock69 and Buiten Westen. Rene Engel (A.K.A. De Nachtwacht) is a name that has risen from the underground to the bigger stages. From illegal warehouse raves to Code AM and Woodstock69, Rene knows how to please the crowd with his unique choice of records. He is inspired by funk, soul and jazz, and these influences find their groovy way into his set which range from deep house to techno.
