Max Cooper, I can’t elaborate enough about this UK based scientist and producer. I’ve been a pretty big fan for the last three years, especially after seeing him perform last year at the Sugar Factory and the Systematic Recordings ADE showcase at the Chicago Social Club. He was the living proof that two very diverse lifestyles can be effortlessly combined live on the dance-floor. Nowadays, he’s worked his way up to become a full-time electronica artist, DJ and live performer. (..more)

Groovy techno or funk with a drive is what you can expect when Levi Verspeek plays his music. This Amsterdam born and raised kid made his first techno track in 2010, Hurken, which was instantly picked up by the likes of techno legend Dave Clarke. He even played it in the best of 2010 edition of his radio show White Noise. In 2011 he became a TWSTd finalist which resulted in a Sugar Factory residency; the future is bright for Levi! (..more)
If someone is half Spanish and half Dutch, he most likely won that certain kind of party gene by default. That’s probably the reason why Daniel Sanchez (27), DJ and founder of BlaBla Records was already setting up his first big parties at the age of 15. From Thursday until Saturday, he is celebrating the 5th anniversary of BlaBla in Studio 80. And before he gets that long weekend started, I met up with him to learn why underground events like BlaBla are just as important for the electronic music scene as David Guetta. (..more)

We’ve seen revolutions worldwide, people getting into the streets to fight for their rights. In the Western world, it sometimes seems that we really have nothing left to fight for. It all seems downgraded to questions on finance, the state of the economy and your hard-earned pensions. But what about artists? In Holland, the political climate is now tending towards spending on jet fighters and cutting back on culture. (..more)
This week we have the youngest member of the Dekmantel collective in Mixtape Monday: Michael Jacques. His DJ sets vary from house to techno and everything in between, and the successful club night BlackOut he hosts together with Thomas Martojo and Casper Tielrooij has already had artists like Julio Bashmore, Prosumer, Levon Vincent and Kerri Chandler over in its short lifetime. Next up for BlackOut: UK house pioneer Joy Orbison on February 10th. This man knows his music! (..more)

Just another Sunday afternoon: waking up from a hangover, eating a clubsandwich, smoking a cigarette, taking a stroll through the park, updating my social media, looking for some new music, smoking another cigarette and.. checking out a dodgeball tournament followed by an all-star afterparty at Undercurrent. The teams on show are formed by our favourite creative collectives, so I’m expecting some (creative) action. (..more)
New kid on the electronic music block No Reset is definitely not new to music in general. Like every true musician (according to all their biographies at least), he already owned his first guitar as a 14-year old and by the time he was 18 his résumé was packed with punk and pop-rock bands. Fast forward to today and the morgen.am DJ has replaced his six-strings with laptops and mixers, and the future is looking bright! (..more)
