Only two weeks open and the word spreads around fast. "There’s a new Australian place just near the Albert Cuijp, You should really visit" is what they say. My friend is one of those people. There’s no need to be browsing for hours through the most fashionable Dutch online store anymore, because this online store has gone offline. On April 6th The Collector opened a brand new concept store in a thriving district, the Pijp. In a cute street the gorgeous store pops out. It looks very chiq and Parisians from the outside but when you step inside it does even more. It looks like an atelier that’s been build into a store. A long corridor leads to on open space with more windows and even higher walls. A place as special as the pieces, because most of the labels are not commonly available in other stores. (..more)

There we were, out of the setting we are used to. Designer Alexa van Engelen of the label Sage and Ivy choose an antique mirror studio for her collection presentation. She chooses her locations carefully and always goes for the most special ones. The studio was located in an old building in Amsterdam. Many old mirrors adorned the old walls. It looked very Parisian. Subtle light and piano music completed the picture. (..more)

At the Next & Cutting Edge show during the Modefabriek there is room for a lot of new talent. One of them is Anne de Grijff. My eye was immediately pulled to her collection because of its simplicity yet edginess and signature black looks. I’m not necessarily a person who wears black all the time but somehow I’m drawn to collections with lots of black in it.
