Becoming TransNatural, an exposition where nature, art and technology melt together
I'm a bit of a geek and love science, but I also love art. Unfortunately, these two often don't mix, but sometimes there are exceptions. Trouw/De Verdieping is now hosting the second edition of an exposition called 'Becoming TransNatural'. This exposition sucks us into a new hybrid world where nature, art and technology melt together. It varies from jewelry made out of artificially cultivated bones, playing games with mud, up to cultivating rocks to save Venice from its downfall. (..more)

Last Thursday night was the second edition of our collaboration with the Cassette Collectief, featuring an electronic jazz jam session, followed by deep house and slo-mo DJs, and supported by alcoholic shots of culture and a vintage '20s/'30s photo booth. Amsterdam Aperture: Amsterdam’s Construction Sites
Everywhere you walk, bike or drive in Amsterdam you are confronted with blocked roads and traffic detours. Amsterdam often seems to be one big construction site; buildings are torn down and rebuilt, roads are repaved and new bridges are built. Even though many consider these construction sites view spoilers, I have a strange fascination with them. Below you'll find some pictures I have taken of several 'famous' construction sites throughout the city. (..more)
Amsterdam Aperture: Winter Wonderland
Snow white landscapes have blinded our vision during the last months. Amsterdam definitely hasn't had a lack of snow this year! Although it has caused lots of discomfort (think delayed public transport, slippery curbs and not being able to bike), it has also created magnificent views all around the city. Rutger and I have been standing up to the cold to take some interesting winter wonderland pics in Amsterdam. Inside, you'll find our favourites. (..more)
Shop for affordable dutch designer clothing at Open Shop
Some of you might know this already, but I'm a sucker for shopping! In this post I just want to share one of my new findings: Open Shop. This little shop in the centre of Amsterdam is managed by a few young fashion designers, whose own collection can be found in the shop. The best thing about this shop: it's very affordable! The designers featured at Open Shop are: 100% Halal, By Boef , Ephat, Guinea Pig Galore, Hotrod Hussy and Sunday Girl. (..more)
Wander through grandma’s vintage closet at the NDSM wharf’s flea market
I love nosing through my grandmother's closet and attic; authentic vintage clothing, old-fashioned lamps, squeaky chairs and the occasional moth ball. Unfortunately, her closet and attic are not inexhaustible and I have almost reached the backside. To solve this problem, I occasionally visit the flea market in the IJ-hallen at the NDSM wharf. This way, I can still quench my small price vintage shopping thirst. (..more)

The event attracts a group of innovative thinkers to come together and discuss trends before they even exist. The magic words during this conference: passion, energy and creativity! What I love most about TEDx? Different disciplines are brought together which leads to a theatre filled with creativity just waiting to be turned into useful 'inventions'. (..more)
My guide to IDFA, bring on the documentaries!
The 17th of November is approaching which means..... no not an early Sinterklaas party, but IDFA time! (International Documentary Festival Amsterdam). A few weeks ago we already posted some mood setting trailers, and promised a bigger preview. IDFA gave me the chance to pick several documentaries which had caught my attention and prepare you all with some inside scoops. Just to warn you in advance, because of IDFA's very extensive program, this post only reviews a couple of documentaries which stood out to me. If you're interested in reading about all the documentaries, check out the A-Z documentary list. (..more)
