Prostitution in the Van Gogh museum
I know what you're thinking: that title is pure click bait. But it's not! There's a new exhibit in the Van Gogh Museum that focuses on 'Easy Virtue': the French, high end prostitutes, and especially the many artists that were inspired by these ladies. Works by none other than Edgar Degas, Henric de Toulouse-Lautrec, Kees van Dongen, Pablo Picasso and, of course, Vincent van Gogh are shown in a setting that breathes 19th century Paris. (..more)
CityHub, the ho(s)tel of the future
When staying in hostels, you might make a lot of new friends, but also experience a complete lack of privacy and smell incredibly stinky feet. That ends here and now. CityHub, a new hostel in Amsterdam, has the answer to everything! (..more)
Sleeping becomes art at art’otel
The opening of the art’otel Amsterdam was quite the event. None other than Erykah Badu was DJing and the tour through the hotel consisted of singers, modern- and hip hop dancers, each giving their own little spin to the rooms we visited. Never in my years as editor have I seen such elaborate and great branding. And never have I left an opening this late. (..more)
Get your hipster on at Urban Outfitters
Some people think sleep is a waste of time. But I’m a person who values their rest. Hell, if I have nothing to do, I’ll happily spend the day snoring in bed. But not too long ago, I had to drag myself out of the warm little nest I made to attend to opening of one of Amsterdam’s best new shop additions; Urban Outfitters. (..more)

All vintage treasures at Het Kaufhaus
We like young people who aren’t scared to take a risk. As an Artmanagement student Kim (22) already took a sabbatical to work for an event organisation, but after the words ‘We can’t pay you any more’, she had two choices: “I could go and work at Albert Heijn, or make the dream of owning my own second-hand store a reality.” And that’s what she did, which we are all too pleased about because it gave Amsterdam a new gem with Het Kaufhaus. Aussie wonderboy Flume is coming to the Melkweg
So let's go back to roughly seven months ago when people all around me started talking about 'flume'. At first I thought they were saying 'flem' and wanted to offer each and every one of them a tissue, but it turned out they were talking about 21-year-old Harley Streten otherwise known as –you guessed it– Flume. And now he's coming to Amsterdam. (..more)
