Every time I see a photo taken by Erwin Olaf, I keep staring at it and can only think: “Damn, this piece of art is just…brilliant”. 60 seconds of not blinking later my eyes usually get very dry, but I still find myself unable to turn my eyes away! Recently, I found out about his photo collection DUSK&DAWN in the Hermitage Amsterdam, even though it has been there since June 11th. The exhibition comprises 12 art works and two short movies and can be viewed until September 12th, so there is still some time left to check them out. (..more)
Get soaked during the World Wide Water Fight
The Super Soaker 50. The thought of this mighty weapon brings up a lot of youth sentiment. I go back to being a young boy, hiding behind cars and trees; on a mission to hit the first random car driver I see. This used to be serious business. Of course it always ended with going back home only to see my dad standing in the doorway ready to preach: "Thou shall not hit random car drivers with your Super Soaker!". Got it dad. (..more)

While I will be dancing, drinking and enjoying the best music until the early morning at Lowlands Festival on the 21st of August, my friends whom are not in possession of a precious Lowlands ticket will still be dancing, drinking and swimming at the TEEST House Braderie in Amsterdam. Hot Amsterdam summer nights: ‘Pluk de Nacht’ open air film festival
Every summer in Amsterdam, there is the PLUK DE NACHT open air film festival that this year starts on August 5th and ends on August 15th. This 7th edition, a huge huge movie screen is presented at "Het Stenen Hoofd" (The Stone Head) with a unique selection of not-yet-released independent arthouse cinema, documentaries, short films and animations.
