The Shift by Rafaël Rozendaal
Rafael Rozendaal is an internet artist who creates simple, basic animations and interactive websites, which are sold on their individual domain names. I got acquainted with his work on a group exhibit I was part of in The Hague. His work is both simple and seductive in a good way (some of his work: 1, 2, 3). With The Shift Rozendaal currently exhibits in W139, which still has that art academy vibe going on. South has a sculptural route curated by Jan Cramer, where 50 sculptures from across the world are showcased. If the weather’s nice and you’re in the neighbourhood you should definitely take a look. 30 times Jack Nicholson in Eye
You might not know Eye, which is very well possible. Since January 2010, Eye Institute is a merger of four Dutch film organisations: Filmmuseum, Holland Film, Nederlands instituuut voor de Filmeducatie (NiF) and the Filmbank. At the end of 2011 Eye will move to the IJ-bank and thus becomes the very first major art institution at 'the other side' of the IJ. (..more)
