An enlightening interview with Lumisokea
I visited Lumisokea couple of weeks ago, a Belgian-Italian DJ duo. In the bunker in North I was taken on a journey, submerged in deep bass, dub and noise… A friend of mine described it as Zen-terror. All created live on stage. Their show is beautifully enlightened by two lights behind the DJs which slowly move in different geometrical shapes. A real interesting experience, especially when the light touches your face or body which really made you part of the show. (..more)
Transnatural art and music festival
Transnatural has been one of my favourite art festivals to go to in Amsterdam for the past several years. It’s a festival that combines nature, art and technology, a symbiosis that drives interesting, almost necessary change and new projects. In recent years Transnatural was held at De Verdieping but it has moved a new location: NEMO. (..more)
Experts talk about the impact of design at the What Design Can Do! conference
Let me introduce you to the 2nd edition of the international conference about the impact of design. WHAT DESIGN CAN DO! Or better: what can’t design do? When we think of design we tend to think about branding, clothing or furniture. What if we take design out of it’s box and see how design (thinking) can aid in solving social and environmental issues? Design has been and is able to change, inspire and solve. (..more)

Interview with New York Times Magazine photo editor Kathy Ryan
I was given the opportunity to interview Kathy Ryan, the award-winning Director of Photography of the New York Times Magazine. She has worked with the publication for more than twenty-five years; in that time, the Magazine has been recognized with numerous photography awards. Ryan turned out to be such a kind and interesting person. The interview goes quite deep into the ways of portraying "truth" through photography. (..more)
The new film museum EYE
On the 5th of April the new film museum EYE will open its doors to the public. A building that has evolved into an architectural gem on the IJ bank, next to the Shell tower. This new addition to Amsterdam’s rural landscape was designed by Delugan Meissle Associated Architects (try spelling that on the phone), it certainly has a different feel to it from every side you look at it. Take the ferry from the NDSM wharf back to Central Station and see how the building changes shape, a pretty cool experience. This was exactly one of the goals of the architects, to combine multiple perspectives in the design. (..more)
TORCH Gallery presents The Shapeshifter
TORCH Gallery presents an interesting exhibition called The Shapeshifter, where a series of beautiful paintings by Anya Janssen is showcased. It’s difficult to capture the feeling I had when looking at her paintings, which are full of discrepancies: innocence and eeriness, both comforting and sinister. (..more)
