The colours of my wardrobe usually depend on the time of the year. I like wearing black and other calm and dark tones in autumn and wintertime, but I unsurprisingly start putting on bright-coloured clothes once spring or summertime come. I have noticed a similar situation on the streets of many European capitals. And although Dutch people have never been grey, still, I have noticed that the amount of bright-coulored outfits on the streets of Amsterdam is directly proportional to every additional degree in temperature. The use of scarves dates back as far as ancient Rome. The Romans were the first to use them, but only to wipe their neck and face from sweat in a hot climate. Later the scarf became a widely used fashion accessory worn by both men and women. And today I can hardly imagine a wardrobe without one. (..more)

I love this spring in Amsterdam for many reasons: long bright days, warm wind, getting your cheeks sun-kissed, eating ice-cream on the street, getting rid of gloves while riding a bike and letting your bare neck catch the first sunrays.. Remember those thick winter sweaters you used to wear during the cold days in Amsterdam?Seems, they are just too cozy to get rid of when the springtime comes; therefore stylish Dutchies wear them as an outerwear. I’ve been interested in street fashion for quite a long time now. After all, as Carine Roitfeld says, street fashion is real fashion now. But being a foreigner who loves Paris and Parisian style way too much, I was not sure what to expect from the streets of Amsterdam when I first stepped on the ground of the Dutch capital. However, it didn’t take me long to realize how many different but fascinatingly stylish in their own unique way people there are here.
