Robeco SummerNights, the longest festival of the year
The festival season has finally started; the sun is shining, people are falling in love, music can be heard throughout the city. But big festivals are not only held at remote locations on large empty fields, they’re happening right in our city center as well: Robeco SummerNights just released a teaser trailer for what they claim to be ‘the longest festival in the Netherlands’. Diynamic Festival’s crazy ones, misfits & troublemakers
Last week, we had a chat with Diynamic Festival's organisers about what they're about to bring upon us. As Diy-day draws closer, I thought it was about time for a small preview of what's to come music-wise. Known for their innovative and avant-garde artists, Diynamic is bound to be one of the most interesting festivals of the year. Local Rockstars: Macedonian mastermind ME.N.U. about his latest feat of arms
If you’re a regular reader of Overdose.am or visited Next Monday’s Hangover parties before, you’re probably already familiar with ME.N.U. He’s a serious rising star, with an amount of creative output that gets me suspicious of him hiding a bunch of underpaid oompa-loompas in his basement. Everything sounds better at Het Concertgebouw
When I think of Het Concertgebouw, I think of the times my grandparents took me there when I was a kid. We used to go to special kids’ matinées, where the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra would play Peter and the Wolf, or Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty. I was probably six or seven years old, but I remember it all quite vividly. The mighty, overwhelming sound of the big orchestra made a deep impression on my young mind. Today I learned that the building itself plays as big a part in this as the orchestra. (..more)
