Revolutziya, a revolutionary way of partying
The days that you could just shout out your main act, kick back and watch your event sell itself are over. People want more than just an awesome lineup, they need a revolution. And that's exactly what they'll get with RеволуциЯ (Revolutziya) which means 'Revolution' in a mixture of English, Macedonian and Russian. It wants to bring people together through the power of music, and benefit society. (..more)
Rolling Stones in the Netherlands
The Rolling Stones, well known for their drug (ab)use and seemingly eternal youth, but most of all for the many popular hits. Their last gig on Dutch soil is almost six years ago now, and after I spontaneously went to see them in Budapest on that very same tour, I've been dying for another chance to see them perform. So I'd say it's about time the boys get their arses over here, before it's literally too late. Until then, consider this a teaser. (..more)
Je Moeder clears Toomler’s comedy floor for Kubus & Sticks
Amsterdam has a rich history when it comes to hip-hop: Def P and his Osdorp Posse, Bassline (the longest-running hip-hop night in the Netherlands) and more recently De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig. With the turn of the millennium, however, came the rise of Nederhop from the East, with Zwolle being the epicentre. And now the two cities meet, thanks to blog and party squad Je Moeder. (..more)
Smokin’ hot cigars at La Casa del Habano
Last Thursday was a special day for Amsterdam’s cigar connoisseurs. The city’s first, and the country’s second La Casa del Habano opened in the Conservatorium Hotel, a slightly luxurious spot in the Museum Quarter. Not quite the place one accidentally runs into, but then again; all the more reason to pay a visit. Thinking of cigars, the first thing that comes to my mind is middle-aged distinguished men in thick smoke clouds. So, I decided to check out the stereotypes. (..more)

Independent films in World Cinema Amsterdam
I love watching films. Who doesn’t? And I love to watch non-Hollywood and non-American film even more, just to feel different. Listening to a language I can’t understand for two hours, enjoying a different view to the world and getting to know another country through its films. This year’s World Cinema Amsterdam is exactly this kind of festival. It’s going to show ‘the best independent films from Latin America, Asia and Africa’, and I’m already watching trailers and reading information to decide which ones are truly worth watching. (..more)
Meet and Eat: Dine in darkness at ctaste
I like unusual places, with unusual food and an unusual atmosphere. Restaurant Ctaste, where you dine in the dark, is such a place. I found out about Ctaste two years ago during the annual Restaurant Week, so with three friends we went over for a dinner. We had fun eating tasty dishes and guessing what exactly they were, discussing how people feel when they are blind all their lives and admiring the work of waiters, who not only serve you dishes in the complete dark, but are all also either partially or completely blind themselves. Feel the history in Museum Willet-Holthuysen
If you are like me – if you like museums and lifestyle in the old times – then follow my advice and visit Museum Willet-Holthuysen, which is located just in the centre of Amsterdam. Actually, I will correct myself. If you like to know how people used to live a few centuries ago, but you do not like museums – you should visit this museum anyway. Reason? It does not feel like a museum at all, rather a memorial house or a small peek in the 18th/19th century. (..more)
