Sightseeing-jogging through your own town
The other day I found myself in the Vondelpark and was captivated by half of Amsterdam jogging by. I felt like an anthropologist discovering a whole new world. You can really see that the human has no threatening predator in its natural habitat any more, which makes it pretty entertaining to sit back and look at how we have evolved from running away from sharp teeth. I too joined the jogging trend and used to run three times a week, but after a while I just got a bit bored. Luckily last Saturday I was invited to a run with a twist and was introduced to the world of sightseeing-jogging! (..more)
Meet and Eat: Sucre
Not too long ago my photographer in crime and I were invited to the reopening of Sucre. I had never heard of the place and imagined it to be a small corner shop selling sweets. I wasn’t to far off; Sucre used to be located at the Amstelveenseweg and was originally founded as a dessert restaurant, but had to move to a larger location due to its success. The new address was the Hobbemastraat 2 formerly known as 'club Mansion'. (..more)
Meet and Eat: Kösebasi
The other day I realised that I mostly eat Turkish food at 4 in the morning. Around this time I create a speech impediment, lose my sense of balance and my stomach starts rumbling due to large consumption of alcoholic beverages. I love a good kebab or Turkish pizza, but lets be honest even a dead cat would taste tasty when you're smashed off your clogs. Next to a teenage holiday in Turkey (which is more of a blur than reality) I never really had a proper Turkish dinner. So you can imagine I was quite excited when I was invited by Kösebasi to come try some real Turkish cuisine. (..more)
We are all fanatics
Remember when you were a little kid and everyone bullied this one random classmate? You didn’t really have a grudge towards the bugger; nonetheless you would still pester the poor guy. Now all these years later I can still feel sorry for the lad. It made me think why we tend to follow the herd instead of daring to be the black sheep. Obviously, we do these things to be part of a group so we avoid becoming the loner. But just how far would we go to be part of this 'group' and, just how fanatic are we? (..more)

Local dealer in fair wear: Charlie + Mary
Kermit tells us to be green, our city’s council offers 5 years of free parking when you drive electric and the Al Gores of this generation try to demonstrate the frightful consequences with very graphic imagery. Living a more conscious and responsible lifestyle has become more imperative in our day-to-day lives. We know what to do; be moderate with energy, separate your garbage, recycle and wear eco-friendly clothes. (..more)
Meet and Eat: Blue
Blue is known to be a colour, a state of mind and something you give a bride before her wedding. You can also find something Blue a few feet up high and I am not talking about the sky. This particular Blue is located sky high on the third floor of the Kalvertoren and offers a 360-degrees eagle-eye view of Amsterdam. (..more)
Meet and Eat: Cafe Latei
Women are known to be good at many things, but some claim that our expertise lays in just two: eating and shopping. At Cafe Latei we can do both, at the same time! Café Latei is located just off of Nieuwemarkt at the corner of the Zeedijk and is the most peculiar little place. Not only can you enjoy a bite to eat everything that meets the eye is actually for sale. (..more)
Meet and Eat: De Taart van m’n Tante
From English nursery rhymes to referring to our loved ones as cupcake, sweetie pie, sugar plum and stud muffin. The average human's obsession with sweet food is so strong that it can be found in our day to day language. Everyone desires a bit of sweetness, if it's because you have been smoking the ganja, it's just 'that time' of the month or you are a 24/7 sweet-tooth. Overdose brings you a place where you can unleash your sweet food fury. (..more)
Meet and Eat: Foodies at Goodies
A new year calls for new resolutions. For the average person this means eating less junk and working out the trunk. My suggestion is to go shop 'till you drop (flex those trunk muscles) and have a healthy sandwich to reward yourself for daring to try on new clothes after all that Christmas stuffing and New Year bubbly. The Negen Straatjes is a great place to practice your new work-out plan. After scoring your new gear, my reward advice is to hop into Goodies. (..more)
