Imagine Film Festival will take you to infinity and beyond
A film that takes a story beyond realism into the universe of fantasy and imagination is a magical adventure. A storyteller that is able to show you a world, different from the one we live in, is a blissful experience. The child within is reborn and it provides an insight into dimensions you would have never been able to travel to on your own. Well, you might with an extensive collection of hallucinogens or if you are blessed with an elaborate imagination. Sadly, not all of us are sanctified with a mind that can take us far and beyond, but luckily the invention of film provides the ability to take anyone and everyone along for the ride. (..more)
CHIXPEDITION: A perfect day at the beach
After rain, wind and Sharknadoes (scary, but true), summer has found its way to the Dutchland. Every ray of sunlight is a blessing for my vampire white skin and a 24 degrees Celsius weather forecast is a definite GO to the beach. So AHOY the chix went on expedition to the blissful Blijburg (which literally translates to burrow of the happy, or to my ears, a shire full of hobbits on E). (..more)

Film Fetish Friday: Cloud Atlas, Anna Karenina, Populaire
To watch or not to watch? I will tour around Amsterdam’s cinemas and answer this crucial question every Friday. Without mercy, of course. Sucky films will be slaughtered, cinematographic pearls will be appreciated as such. Or the other way around. After all, good taste is in the eye of the beholder. (..more)
Celebrate the end of the world with some Apocalyptic classics at Kriterion
“APOCALYPSE IS NOW”, well the 21st of December to be completely accurate. According to some Mayan scribbling, the end of time is near and human kind is awaiting a gruesome and sure death. Rubbish, you say? I would initially agree with you on this, however the Mayans are known worldwide for their architectural, artistic, mathematical and scientific achievements. So if they were right about so many things, why would they be wrong about this? Subsequently, this makes a gal want to pack her finest clothes and buy a one-way ticket to Mars. (..more)
