Lost & Found Magazine, fresh from the press

Last week the launch of the new magazine Lost & Found took place here in Amsterdam. You can see it as your offline provider of music, art, fashion and fine experiences in town. With a red carpet awaiting all the guests, Magna Plaza definitely looked the part for the night. Men in uniform, girls in skimpy dresses, cocktails and good music. What more would you want from a launch party? (..more)

Alongside all the housewarmings, birthday parties and drunken escapades this past weekend, there was something else going on just outside our beloved ring toad. The boys known as De Grote 8 housed their first expo ever at the illustrious Pand 14. I had warned you beforehand, so I'm hoping a lot of you made your way out there. Getting the chance to admire work from eight different artists in six different disciplines, pumping out collaborations at the same time, is truly a great way to spend your Saturday. And what better way to end it off with some drinks and some dancing feet. (..more)

Storytelling around the fireplace with OpenHaard

Seeing someone’s work, whether it's a photograph, a painting or even a building, sometimes I feel that I'm interpreting a piece of art in the way it is meant to be interpreted. However, sometimes designers confront me with a piece of work that I just can’t get my head around. Ever wanted to hear from the pros where they find their inspiration? (..more)

On Saturday October 8th there’s a big ass treat waiting for you at Pand 14. This old Chinese restaurant just outside the ring is oozing cultural rawness. The guys known as De Grote 8, will be hosting a one-day expo; their first as this new collective. With specialisations in art, audio, illustration, photography, poetry and typography, this is an expo you don’t want to miss. Names like Merijn Kavelaars, Daniel Hageman and Berend Ouwerling will show you what they’re made of. And, as with almost any expo, once the clock strikes four, it’s party time! (..more)

Your workshop is waiting at Nowhere

At the moment I have quite a bit of free time on my hands. A few different jobs here and there, biking around the city a lot, coffee with friends six times a day. You get the idea. However, I needed something else to fill up my days a bit. Then I ran into the middle of Nowhere. Here you can follow workshops and master classes, talent development projects, concerts and festivals. So I signed up for the workshop Performing Words. (..more)

You do not talk about De Club

You do not talk about De Club

Sep 16, 2011 |  by  |  Event

After all the rumours and all the stories, how can you not have heard about De Club? Now I have to tell you as much as I can, without actually telling you anything. A real community; a group of members searching together for their life’s purpose. Words and ideas are put into action when necessary; it’s about getting your point across. This isn’t theatre any more; you have to participate yourself. It’s not a one-off gig either; going to De Club means becoming a member. (..more)

Last week, in part 1 of this double take, I introduced you to ROYALSTEEZ, the man and the artist. One of his most recent projects is Your Art Could Have Been Here. A project that started out on quite a small scale has now grown to a very notable level. What all started out as a frustration towards screaming artists throughout Holland, has evolved into a cross-medial project and a spot on the wall at the Cultuur-Ondernemen foundation in Amsterdam. Remember back in 2007, when Damien Hirst revealed For the Love of God, a cast of a human skull covered completely in diamonds? Yes? Good! Now, remember when a different artist made the same skull, but then covered it completely in yellow candy, naming it ‘For the Love of Candy’? Ladies and gentleman, I proudly present: Royalsteez.
