Discovery Festival in twelve pictures
Once a year, Amsterdam’s natural science museum NEMO transforms into a club. The people behind it? Discovery Festival. It was a highly interactive experience where everyone got a chance to experiment and truly discover something new. Besides, when else can you booze up at NEMO? Not only that, the music was awesome with Frenchman Onra being my personal highlight of the night. We know a few of you made it there thanks to our prize giveaway, but for those unlucky enough to not have made it, here’s a small recap of what you don’t want to miss again next year. (..more)
SSBA Salon is making things happen in Amsterdam
Personally, I don’t have a clue about what goes down inside the monstrous walls and cavities of the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam. But as it just so happens, there is something very interesting brewing up in the attic there. Two young guys have gotten an all systems go to set up a creative test lab from scratch. With their new approach to cultural events and the launch of their online magazine, they’re bringing Amsterdam’s pool of creative spirits together. Slowly but surely, they’re making a name for themselves. Maarten Bul & Chris Julien, the initiators of SSBA Salon. (..more)
Viewpoint exhibition confronts you with the way we react to art
Huis Marseille is getting ready for Viewpoint, their new exhibition. For the most part, it’s based on their own collection that has been built up throughout the years. But there are also a few contributions from other renowned museums, such as De Pont in Tilburg. What to expect? A balancing act between photography and other forms of visual arts. But it goes further than that; Viewpoint is about the studies of the way one views art. The specific juxtaposition of the viewer and the viewee is exactly what is brought into perspective in an intriguing manner. (..more)
Let loose of your inner geek at Discovery Festival
Remember back in the day when your parents took you to the science museum? Thinking back about that right now, I’m already getting pumped up. It was the coolest playground ever, and without even realizing it, you were learning while playing. Memories of making gigantic bubbles, building dams in miniature waterworks and hooking up some wires to a battery to make a string of bulbs light up. Oh the pure awesomeness of it all! (..more)
Everyone can picture themselves at Pllek
A bunch of shipping containers mark the spot where I hope you’ve already been. Whether it was for some early morning Tai-Chi or a midnight film fest, Pllek is one of those places that should be high on your list of favourite hangouts in Amsterdam. Nestled into a corner of the industrial NDSM-wharf, owner Sjoerd definitely chose the right spot to set up shop. (..more)

Ruigoord Experience in twelve pictures
Last Saturday was your chance to come and experience what Ruigoord has to offer at All is One’s special event. It was a true experience, and what a day to venture out of town for an all-night extravaganza. This place is magical by day and night and definitely worth a visit. A lasting memory; lying in the grass with the sun shining as a musician is singing his very own twist of Atomic Kitten’s Whole Again. A woman stands up, swaying to the music, wraps a rizla paper around a plastic fork and starts playing her new-found instrument to the beat of the best cover ever. (..more)
All is One provides you with a true Ruigoord Experience
We’ve all heard of Ruigoord, but how many of us have ever manned up and made our way out there? Who dares step out of the ring to explore the true cultural limits Amsterdam’s fine folk have set out? The Amsterdam most of us know is so small and cramped, we need places to spread out a bit and vent our frustrations. Think Blijburg, think Pand14, think VLLA; and don’t even think of skipping Ruigoord. (..more)
