Local Vogue 9: meeting Yara from ‘This chick’s got style’
If you’re going to call yourself a chick with style, you gotta have the goods to back it up. At only 21 years old, Yara made the kind of impression on me that I wished more young bloggers would make: sincere, incredibly nice and packed with a great sense of humor. Yara told me that her personal style is never something solid. She recalls the many travels that she has made with her parents and explained how these trips have broadened her horizon and made her curious about other cultures. (..more)
Local Vogue 8: meeting Vincent Reinders from Free (and 22tracks fame)
A multitasking entrepreneur at it’s best. That's how I would describe Vincent Reinders. He has his own radio show Lijn 5 and writes articles for State Magazine. Somehow in between of doing all these things, he managed to start up one of the coolest online jukeboxes 22tracks: if you haven’t heard of this concept yet, you’ve probably been living under a rock. But it doesn’t stop there. The reason I was so excited to finally be able to work with him for Local Vogue, was because his clothing line Free is a perfect example of luxury mixed with comfort. Local Vogue 7: meeting Studio Jux
When I spoke to Carlien Helmink, who is the co-owner of Studio Jux, I was intrigued by her cuteness. Her office is filled with the most fascinating little details, such as an antique teacup that once belonged to her grandmother. Although this teacup has nothing to do with fashion, it very much represents Jux's collection: classic pieces with a surprising twist. (..more)
Local Vogue 6: Meeting Eleonore de Ruuk
Eleonore de Ruuk is one busy lady. Currently she owns a little pop-up store in the Vijzelstraat, where we filmed a part of this interview, and has just launched her latest collection. This collection is named Tempus Fugit and refers to the passing of time. I love the distinguished mix of high fashion basics with a sportive touch: the graphic shapes, geometric prints and wonderfully soft fabrics remind me of street mixed with a touch of runway. And I can’t stress enough how much I loved the denim hooded backpack, how brilliant is that? (..more)
Where Fashion meets Art: Vivienne Westwood and Lee create 100 Days of Active Resistance
I am a big supporter of individualism and originality. I love people who choose to avoid the path of mainstream commercialism and go their own way. Who cares what the world thinks, right? For these exact reasons, Vivienne Westwood can do no wrong in my eyes. Her punk rock style, free spirit and impeccable designs have captured my heart for many years now. Local Vogue 5: meeting Dorhout Mees
When Overdose was still in baby shoes, I wrote about Dorhout Mees. Not because somebody asked me to, but because I was intrigued by her work ethic, resume and collection. It doesn’t happen very often that I write twice about a new label or designer. The fact that I am doing it now, could either mean that I really like the clothing, or really want the designer in question to succeed. With Esther Dorhout Mees, I can safely say that both points mentioned were the case. I wanted Local Vogue to be a platform for all those up and coming young individuals who dared to take risks. So when this segment was finally up and running I just had to meet Esther in person to catch up with her and see where she was at now. (..more)
Local Vogue 4: meeting Artists Not Armies
Sometimes, an idea can be so brilliant yet so amazingly simple that it is surprising that no one came up with it before. When I first met Alexander Tempel at Amsterdam Fashion Week, I just had to take his picture. Not because his look was so particularly unique or ground breaking, but because his presence as a whole made me turn my head. He wore his outfit with much confidence, but it was the text printed on the bag he was carrying that provided the finishing touch: Artists not Armies. (..more)
Local Vogue 3: meeting Andy Torres from Stylescrapbook
The minute I decided to do Local Vogue, I knew Andy Torres had to be a part of the series. I have been following her blog Stylescrapbook for more than two years now and she has truly emerged from one of many bloggers to be an online fashion phenomena. Nowadays she is one busy young lady, travelling the world to see fashion shows and working on her dream of moving to Paris. When I approached her with the idea of doing an interview in her apartment, I was kind of surprised that she immediately agreed and willingly invited me into her home. (..more)

Twice a year Amsterdam turns into a catwalk for fashion lovers all over the country. We all get to dress up in our finest gear, run around town with our Blackberries to catch the shows and see what the trends for spring/summer 2011 will be.
