There are many people in fashion who I admire for different reasons. I applaud some for taking risks, others for being bold in their designs. And then there’s the exceptions to the rule that just go their own way. To me, Dutch designer Rem D. Koolhaas is one of those people. You know how some people cook in a really effortless way and serve the most amazing dishes? Well, I’ve never been one of those people. To tell you the truth, I’ve never even really attempted to cook in my entire life. This all sort of changed a bit when I received a copy of the new Dutch version of Jamie Oliver's magazine, which he has just launched in Amsterdam. I was invited to attend the launch of well known Dutch chain WE fashion's new campaign, featuring the beautiful tunes of Dutch singer Krystl, one of WE's faces for the upcoming season. The idea of the new WE campaign is quite simple: to follow and photograph real, inspiring people in their own environment. Ordinary People Looking Extraordinary at ILFN 2nd Bday Bash
By now, you may know that I admire strong and independent women who know what they want and aren’t afraid of going after that special thing. Power-lady Annic van Wonderen is definitely one of those ‘go getters’ as she managed to turn the website I Love Fashion News into one of Holland’s biggest sites in just 2 short years. As she and her team have settled in their new headquarters, located on the beautiful canals of Amsterdam, they figured it was time for a celebration. Good thing for us because we got to celebrate with them, toasting champagne to cheer for their 2-year anniversary and new office. (..more)

The store opening of American Vintage last week called for a festive gathering of Amsterdam’s fashion crowd. The French brand is known for creating the perfect basics, some with an interesting twist to give your wardrobe that extra touch. I was invited to view their new store, situated near the extravagant P.C. Hooftstraat. Talking ice cream and lingerie with Marlies Dekkers
Amsterdam based designer Marlies Dekkers is, in my eyes, a pioneer when it comes to lingerie, and a great example of a strong woman. I’m a huge fan of the way she does business: straight to the point but with a very sexy touch. Although she doesn't collaborate with other brands too often, even Marlies had to say yes when Magnum approached her for a special project regarding the launch of their new Temptation Fruit flavour. Shoe confessions at Nike Air Royalty event
This is proving to be one hell of a sporty month for me and I must say I kind of like it. On Wednesday I attended the launch of Nike’s new Air Royalty women’s collection, held at the fashionable Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. If you’re a sneaker freak like some of the girls at this event, you should know that this shoe is Nike’s must have for summer. By using an innovative method called VacTech, the designers have succeeded in mixing the Nike sports heritage with a stylish touch. (..more)
