Guest of Honour: The deep, crisp, well-produced, super-hot and sexy Noir
I’ve been doing a lot of interviews with DJs and producers lately and I also publish a weekly podcast by a local DJ. This means I get to speak to a lot of electronic music artists. Most of them don't impress me as much with their back story as Noir did though. I have a weak spot for people who confidently set out to realise their dreams, and make it all the way. For those not familiar with Motor City Drum Ensemble, this name must immediately make you think of Detroit, after which your first instinct would probably be that you were dealing with a collective of pioneers from this famous music city. All wrong. (..more)
Mixtape Monday: When the days get shorter the tracks go deeper by Gideon Bouwens
A DJ that will remain unnamed failed to properly survive the weekend and deliver everything needed for this week's edition of Mixtape Monday on time. Brrr! (..more)
Mixtape Monday: Monday’s wild imagination mix by Mike Ravelli
On a cold Monday like this we can all use some warm music to get our body temperature up again. With Mike Ravelli behind the decks this should be no problem though. This DJ from Haarlem has quite a track record in Amsterdam. Gigs at many GZG editions, Shoeless, Mystery Land, Studio 80 all reside on his résumé. This mixtape is a tour through the record bag of this vinyl collector. Enjoy! (..more)
Nicolas Jaar, the renaissance man of electronic music, is coming back to town
After performing in Paradiso and at Pitch festival earlier this year and with his debut album Space is only noise conquering the world, 21 year old Nicolas Jaar needs no introduction. His latest EP Don't break my love was released for free on November 3rd and is rumoured to show the new direction of Nico's and his label's sound. Loyal fans and new fans alike, don't hesitate if you want to visit his next and probably only concert in Amsterdam for a while on Januari 15th. Pre-sale starts Saturday. (..more)
