Guests of Honour: Adriatique talk Kingsday in Amsterdam

Apr 17, 2014 |  by  |  Event, Music

Few DJ’s have been on such a rise for the last 12 months like Zurich based Adriatique. As part of the Diynamic family they’ve been touring all over the world and have become a fan favourite for many of us. On Kingsnight they will be playing at ‘De Nachtdivisie’ in the Dhoem Dhaam Warehouse alongside wAFF & Burnski. Perfect excuse to have a quick chat with the two Adrians (they’re both named Adrian hence the name Adriatique, you’d guess) in between their hectic touring schedule. (..more)

Inspiring sessions and memorable stories with Blancolour

Inspiring sessions and memorable stories with Blancolour

Apr 17, 2014 |  by  |  Event

They say the older you get, the wiser you get. And let me be honest, if there’s one thing I do know now, it’s that everyone has a story to tell. Ok, they’re not always the most inspiring stories ever, but I truly believe that people always have an element of surprise in them; an ability to catch you off guard with something spectacular. Precisely this, is what triggered Sebastiaan Wubben to kickstart Blancolour and share these stories through intimate mini-workshops. (..more)

Don't miss Philip Glass in De Melkweg

Don’t miss Philip Glass in De Melkweg

Philip Glass is, you might not see this coming because I write about electronic music most of the time, one of my favourite artists. I listen to his music a lot, especially on moments I have to focus because I have to write an essay for example. The minimalistic simplicity of his music is beautiful — although he has composed other stuff as well. He also happens to be one of the most influential composers of the last fifty years. On the 11th of May he’ll be in Amsterdam and has something very special planned. I can’t wait. (..more)

A 9-to-5 office bash at FreshCotton HQ

Apr 16, 2014 |  by  |  Event, Fashion

Last Friday I was invited to a somewhat secretive and peculiar office party. Normally, you end up at an opening or launch on a random Friday evening after work. The drinks are free, the music is a tad too loud (yet quite good!) and the people are… ‘interesting’. (..more)

Imagine Film Festival will take you to infinity and beyond

Imagine Film Festival will take you to infinity and beyond

Apr 8, 2014 |  by  |  Art, Event

A film that takes a story beyond realism into the universe of fantasy and imagination is a magical adventure. A storyteller that is able to show you a world, different from the one we live in, is a blissful experience. The child within is reborn and it provides an insight into dimensions you would have never been able to travel to on your own. Well, you might with an extensive collection of hallucinogens or if you are blessed with an elaborate imagination. Sadly, not all of us are sanctified with a mind that can take us far and beyond, but luckily the invention of film provides the ability to take anyone and everyone along for the ride. (..more)

Local Rockstars: Sietse Bakker is almost ready for De Zon

Apr 1, 2014 |  by  |  Art, Event, Music

Sietse Bakker. You might not have heard of him (yet), but in a short period of time the man is becoming some sort of cult legend around Amsterdam. He’s the kind of guy every girl wants to be with and every man wants to be. Most recently, Sietse has been involved in some weather forecasting and festival related activity. Basically, he tells us when it’s time to officially embrace the sun (De Zon) in Amsterdam. We asked him some questions about his remarkable mission. (..more)
