Guest of Honour: Antigone about exploring strange and organic sounds
When I talk to Paris based Concrete resident he’s jetlagged and I’m hung-over so we’re right on the same page. Antigone is part of the vanguard of French techno and his music could be described as emotional and atmospheric. He released some impressive stuff already, he’s got a new EP coming up on legendary Token Records on the 18th this month and has a gig coming up on Ascension Day in Radion. Enough reason for a chat. Guest of Honour: Kölsch, a special brew from Kompakt
This weekend it’s a time for the second edition of boutique festival Buiten Westen. This initiative of six Amsterdam-based musical collectives brings your childhood fantasies to life, setting up a dreamworld with extravagant decor, exotic treats and electronic highlights. Among many other international artists we find Kompakt-baby Rune Reilly Kolsch, better known as Kölsch, and one of my recent personal favourites. A good opportunity to ask him some questions before he leaves us in awe closing on the Next Monday's Hangover stage, this Saturday. (..more)
Guest of Honour: Electronic dinosaur Lee Burridge
He might not be that famous here, but Lee Burrdige is a quite the legend in the electronic music scene. At age 22, he moved from his countryside home to the other side of the world and made major contributions to the now famous Hong Kong rave scene. At age 44 his career extends over at least three continents and keeps expanding with several new projects, one of them being the All Day I Dream label. At the first 32-hour Trouw marathon, he played a melodious set for breakfast. (..more)

How far can one man go, with the help of his family? Guest of Honour: Diynamic’s charming ‘wunderkind’ David August
David August, the 21 year old ‘wunderkind’ from Solomun’s Diynamic label. I fell in love with his music over a year ago, and every time I saw him playing this love grew a bit more. After I spoke a few words with David on WTTF I walked away with a lot of questions on my mind. My goal was to find out more about this by J.S. Bach inspired musical talent (..more)
Guest of Honour: Benoit & Sergio and their labour of love
Benoit & Sergio have grown into me as one of my favourite producing acts of the past year. This duo used to have a live act involving knee pads, a saxophone and headset mics. In the end they went with the classic dual laptop set-up, but that didn’t make them any less sensational; their flamboyant electronic pop gave nightclubs a much needed jolt that made them one of the most memorable acts of the year. Not many production duos get the crowd to sing along, let alone about horse tranquillizers. (..more)
Guest of Honour: Danny Daze, finally in Amsterdam after 10 years
Danny Daze is Daniel Gomez, a studio nerd and DJ with a taste for Detroit techno and italo disco. Raised in Miami, Florida, Daze is influenced by his Cuban culture, which gives him the Latin influence heard in some of his music and DJ sets. After a successful year hitting international charts with his tracks Fall Away From Love & Your Everything, the man will be making his Amsterdam debut this Friday at De Nachtdivisie XL. We asked him some questions in advance. (..more)
Guest Of Honour: Aril Brikha about deep techno soul, odd nights and dirty Asian food
In the nineties Aril Brikha reacquainted the world with deep techno soul, as his record Groove La Chord crossed generic boundaries after being released by the one and only Derrick May. Is it techno? Is it house? Is it deep house? It was everything and nothing, and Groove La Chord is simply timeless. His live sets have been highly appreciated all the way from DEMF in Detroit to Fabric in London; people love his soulful and funky take on Detroit techno. (..more)

He is famous for his DJ sets and numerous hits such as Arrow and Bow and Hypnotized. What less people might know is that he also leads his own band, The Koletzkis, and runs his own successful label, Stil vor Talent. (..more)
Guest of Honour: Todd Terje about unicorns and strong beers
For me, Todd Terje used to be one of those DJs of whom the name vaguely rings a bell but you don’t really know the actual sound that well. When several friends told me they’d kill me if I didn’t visit his set at Time Warp Holland, I decided it was about time to figure out more about this man from Norway. And I absolutely, completely, totally, extremely, and entirely fell in love with his style. Todd’s melodious nu-disco sound is one to lose yourself to in happiness, over and over again. (..more)
