About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Friday: Tzusing, re:ni and Merel @ De School

Get educated at this Friday’s School night as three remarkable individuals take control over the club’s basement. With a common interest in the crossroads of rugged techno and slow burning electro, the combination of artists feels like a great alternative for finalizing your post-ADE comedown in a more laid back fashion. Debuting De School are Tzusing and re:ni hailing from Taipei and London respectively.

Tzusing can be seen as one of Asia’s most interesting musical exports as he’s developed a sound far from anything genre-bound. Just have a listen to one of his highly praised EPs for L.I.E.S. or his debut album from 2017 released on the same influential label. Expect singular bursts of percussion combined with fierce synths, all the while being supported by vocals powered by intense cultural themes. Both re:ni and Merel will fit nicely with Tzusing’s musical spectrum as they’re not afraid to take out some of the more unexpected club tools to fire up the basement as well.

Saturday: DJ Marcelle All Night Strong @ Garage Noord

Garage Noord continues to book the obscure yet relevant and welcomes you for an all-nighter served by DJ Marcelle. Playing all sorts of oddities for decades now has given Marcelle a set of skills and knowledge not many can compare with and has made her an expert in showcasing the versatility of her record collection. Giving the Strange Sounds From Beyond and Red Light Radio regular a 5-hour timeslot should therefore make for a very engaging occasion.
