About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

The world’s most relevant week of dance music has arrived once again to offer an insane amount of parties, conferences and workshops. Lucky as we are, the Dam will thereby transform into a melting pot of musical ventures where every outing of electronic music gains the opportunity to attract both local and international crowds to one of the Dam’s 140 selected locations. As said, the program is ridiculously far-reaching so here are some picks that cannot go wrong.

Wednesday: Dailycid with Ion Ludwig, Traumer, Steve O’ Sullivan and more @ Het Sieraad

DJ W!ld’s Dailycid event kicks off ADE nicely by presenting some of the leading acts in the field of dubby and minimal oriented music. Located beautifully on a western canal side, Het Sieraad will be the stage of Dutch allstars Steve Rachmad and Ion Ludwig, Lost.Act, David Gtronic, Traumer and dub techno pioneer Steve O’ Sullivan. The last mentioned will be responsible for a special and revived Bluetrain live performance which’ll thrust you right into the man’s musical legacy.

Thursday: Reaktor x DVS1 with Marcel Dettmann, Silent Servant, Parrish Smith and more @ Warehouse Elementenstraat

Reaktor’s stunning productions and grandmaster DVS1 are a match made in heaven. This has been proven a couple of times already, so this time why not let him curate a full Reaktor lineup to showcase the highest quality of floor-based techno during a full-blown warehouse operation? Spread over both the main room and club area are nothing less than the big top of sleek hypnotizing techno and harsh industrial electronics respectively. Added to this, the third area has been granted to four lucky individuals personally selected by the devious one himself to make sure there is nowhere to hide from the intensity.

Friday: Het Weekend with Batu, Working Titles, Mad Miran and many more @ De School

De School’s epic ADE weekender will take off on Friday and is destined to become one of the week’s highlights. With a timetable that’s covering almost 60 hours of non-stop music, the safe haven has designed a program jam-packed with DJ sets, live performances, art exhibitions and, probably, the occasional absurdity. Characteristically, a significant part of the weekend’s table has been handed to local powers, making the lenghty weekender yet another celebration of Dutch pride with international selectors just here and there.

Saturday: Vault Sessions presents Semantica with Oscar Mulero, DJ Nobu, Svreca and more @ Shelter

There is no actual difference between day and night to be measured in Shelter’s basement, so why not let the influential Semantica label take over and lead the way for a daytime techno gathering? Followed up by the nightly Token showcase, the Semantica session will follow through by covering a broad atmosphere of powerful techno where legends like Oscar Mulero and Surgeon will meet and arrange a daytime showdown to remember.

The Tribe invites Yoyaku with Varhat, Zendid, Lowris and more @ BRET and Radion

The Tribe has pulled it off to gather the rising Parisian agency of Yoyaku and took measures to hand timeslots to all of its joining signees and their own frontmen. As a result, The Nijmegen meets Paris minimal journey will commence in the intimate BRET and make way for sets by Children of Valis, Oshana, Roger Gerressen, Janeret and Varhat. As dawn breaks you’re welcome to join the rest of the crew at Radion, where Lamache, Maayan Nidam, Lowris, Zendid, Christoffer Zaza and Doris Nicholas will be taking care of Saturday’s finest daytime festivity.

Sunday: Drums ADE Closing with Barac, Dubtil, Melchior Productions Ltd and more @ Undercurrent

when Sunday comes, and if circumstances allow you, there’s no better way to close ADE than to get your final groove on in the company of Giegling and Romania’s very best. The collaboration between Drums and Giegling will facilitate your final ADE excursion with pleasure as both rooms of the northern situated Undercurrent will be providing pure afterhour vibes for nearly 24 hours starting at noon. Think extended sets by the likes of Rhadoo, Dubtil and Priku, a Monday morning sunrise and a satisfying conclusion to this year’s ADE.

Also, don’t miss out on the daily instore sessions hosted by Rush Hour, Killacutz and Bordello A Parigi. The stores have put together some great daily schedules to guide you into the night casually.
