About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Friday: Strange Days & Modern Day Rogues with Zohar, Know V.A. and more @ OT301

As part of an extensive weekend program OT301’s Friday night will be hosted by producer duo Know V.A., who’ll set up their Strange Days program. The night will purposefully highlight a selection of subcultures originating from our post-millennial world. Therefore, the musical program will consist of performances by Anni Nöps, DJ DBA, Gabber Eleganza, Zohar and Know V.A. themselves which deliberately results in an extremely varied selection of musical flavours. The evenly interesting visual side of the event curated by Boris Postma can be visited at daytime on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday: De Fabriek with Veronica Vasicka, Das Ding & Pablo Diskko @ Sugar Factory

Sugar Factory’s newest asset will take control under the name of ‘De Fabriek’. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s legendary New York City studio space, De Fabriek is conceptualised to offer an inclusive atmosphere backed by a daring array of musical ventures and will recur on a Friday night basis except for this particular occasion. To launch things properly this Saturday the creatives behind the production have attracted three celebrated acts to take over the decks, all in line with Veronica Vasicka’s Minimal Wave record label.

With Minimal Wave, the NYC-born and multitalented Vasicka instantiated nothing less than a pioneering label in 2005 which focussed on the fearless but profound sides of electronic music including neglected forms of wave, electro and more. Reinforced by the younger sublabel Cititrax, Vasicka, her label and its contributors are sought after entities as the mentioned styles of music have gained heavily renewed attention all around. Regular label contributor Das Ding and local figure Pablo Diskko will also be at the helm of the night to assure quality tunes at De Fabriek’s first showdown.
