About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Friday: 30 Years DJ Pete with DJ Pete, Regis, Ancient Methods @ Shelter

With 30 years of experience under his belt, DJ Pete has achieved an unprecedented status as one of the scene’s most iconic figures. Also known as Substance, part of Scion or just Peter Kuschnereit, DJ Pete lived through a pivotal time for Berlin’s nightculture and emerged as a crucial player in the rise and spread of tough but sophisticated electronic music. Having joined the highly-regarded Hardwax Record Store in the early ’90s as well as holding a Berghain residency since it opening in 2004 are just a few achievements in Kuschnereit’s ever-evolving career, not to mention his efforts as a producer under the previously named monikers. As his invitees for Friday night can be said to have gained an almost godly image as well, DJ Pete might have set up Shelter’s most prestigious techno night to date.

Saturday: Spielraum with Nur Jaber, Under Black Helmet, Polly F & Butterslut @ Radion

This Saturday Radion will yet again be turned into an adult playground as envisioned by the organization of Spielraum. The concept is highly attended and this edition has the potential to continue their streak of success for sure. While focussing on an open and playful atmosphere, Spielraum combines Radion’s sole queer night with high quality techno. This results in a uniquely transformed Radion all the while steady pulses of bass provide the musical component for the night. After acts like Regis and Boris, Spielraum turned to the Lebanese Nur Jaber and Lithuanian Under Black Helmet to stir up the main room with support from their very own Polly F. The upper room is exclusively appointed to Butterslut, rounding up this edition’s bill.
