About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Saturday: De Zomertuin van Bret with Dekmantel Soundsystem

The first edition of Bret’s Zomertuin series will take place this Saturday, welcoming two of Dekmantel’s founding fathers as Dekmantel Soundsystem. The Zomertuin concept has been thoroughly presented to you before and as this will be the first of five unique editions to follow this August, a proper heads up is in place. Dekmantel’s Casper and Thomas have hopefully prepared for a proper comedown as chances are great they have just only landed from another insane edition of their annual forest festival. Accompanying the two are Studio Barnhus’ Kornél Kovács and Dekmantel affiliates Palmbomen II and Max Abysmal. As a result, the total assembly surely makes it seem the Zomertuin series is ready to launch and more than ready for some intimate business at BRET.

Sunday: Lumberjacks in Hell & Brighter Days Boat Party

Lumberjacks in Hell and Brighter Days prepared something a bit different than your average daytime party as well by offering a floating one this Sunday. While cruising from the Central Station towards the vast Markermeer and IJsselmeer, the chartered vessel’s on-board DJs will continuously deliver the soulful grooves that initially made both organizations admirable and worthy. The beloved corner of the Sounds Familiar label will bring forward both Mark Grusane and Kamma & Massalo to play records while Lumberjacks in Hell’s own Mr. Mendel and Marcel Vogel will board and perform as well. The seven-hour journey will inevitably remind you of everything this steamy summer has already brought and might just as well prepare you for what the rest of August has in store.
