Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.
Saturday: Killacutz Instore with Killacutz DJ Team, Frank Haag & more
The centrally located Killacutz record store has made efforts to host yet another one of their special in-store sessions this Saturday. As their already huge supply of vinyl records will be reinforced with another 2.500 units and several DJs will play throughout the day, the session accumulates everything that’s needed for a day of fine music. Whether you’re down for digging or dancing, the team has set up multiple listening stations and some extra decibels to accompany the store with a continuous soundtrack. Curating this soundtrack will be Joep, Seawolf Records’ DJ Senc, VBX’s Frank Haag and, to top it off, the Killacutz DJ Team.
Sunday: De Zomernacht with S.A.M., DJ Dustin and Vlada
In one month time De School’s summer agenda has been pushing top-notch performances only and succeeded to incorporate their variety of spaces to a new extent. Summer nights turned into summer days and besides the monthly weekender, the garden also made room for a unique sleepover to dwell on De School reaching two and a half years of existence.
With the fourth weekend of July in sight we’ll have the pleasure to enter their upper room and welcome S.A.M., DJ Dustin and Vlada. The combination of these three artists encompasses a highly emotive and compelling sound, and at the same time makes this Sunday night one of the rare occasions where the more minimalistically designed grooves will take hold of the club. As founder of both Delaphine and its Dahlia sublabel, S.A.M. in particular has had my attention for years now by consistently putting out some of the most divine and driving music I’ve had the chance to learn about. Especially with the perfect company of Giegling’s Dustin and The Volks’ Vlada, it would be a mistake to sleep on this one for sure.
