About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Friday: Ivan Smagghe, David Cornelissen & Strange Boutique @ Noorderschip

Friday will be a great occasion to enter the noorderschip. Settled at the docks near the NDSM wharf, the ship radiates its historical spirit of an offshore pirate radio station. Some decades later we see the incentive of a creative team transforming the ship’s potential into a fully functional and intimate club, blessing the city with yet another destination to decompress. As the Dam’s youngest club went into its second month of existence, loads of local talent and some carefully selected acts from abroad have already been showcased in the subtly renovated hull of the ship. Lined up next to local powers David Cornelissen and Strange Boutique this Friday is Ivan Smagghe, the French maestro who’ll set you up with tunes from all over the musical spectrum.

Saturday: BON A PARTE with ATEQ @ BRET

BON A PARTE returns to BRET with Giegling’s ATEQ. ATEQ can be seen as one of the illustrous Giegling label’s originators but has released only a small selection of EP’s under the moniker. Nevertheless, there has been no sign of him cutting down pace. Recent years have seen him globetrotting with both the capability of delivering polished live sets and DJ sets, making ATEQ one of the label’s most versatile members performance-wise. In the case of Saturday’s event at BRET it will be a lush DJ set to enjoy with support from Utrecht’s Pieter Jansen and the BON A PARTE crew warming up the place.
