About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Friday: LET with Marcel Dettmann & JP Enfant @ Shelter

Shelter’s May program launches with a royal visit by Herr Dettmann. As one of the initial Berghain residents, Marcel Dettmann is known for his stepping and powerful DJ sets, defying all styles and effortlessly delivering on every possible floor worldwide. The ease and calmness he emits on crowds is hardly ever seen and is especially intriguing considering the fact his sound is all about a perfectly balanced combination of energy and groove. Accompanied only by LET’s founder JP enfant and with room for an extended set, he’ll surely know how to leave his mark this Friday.

Saturday: Vrijland Festival @ Blijburg

The fifth of May is Liberation Day, which makes for a great cause to celebrate the life and freedom we’re lucky to enjoy here. Vrijland annually accomodates this spirit by bringing together multiple organizations and forges something unique and fitting for everyone as a result. Amsterdam institutions Disco Dolly and Festimi will provide for proper swinging tunes and Punablog curates a hiphop focussed tent to name but a few of the stagehosts. The beach of the artificial island of Ijburg will once again be the festival’s scenery and has often proved itself worthy of being the perfect setting for the sun showered event that Saturday’s edition will become.
