About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Both King’s Night & Day will see the city being host to dozens and dozens of events, ranging from the cozy, DIY festivities to the more professionally produced events. With the amount of quality events taking place it’s hard to pick a select few, but I tried anyway.

Thursday: Kingsnight with Barac, Praslea & Sonja Moonear @ Madam

Amsterdam’s highest skybar will be host of yet another uniquely situated party. Three topnotch microhouse selectors will inaugurate kingsday by playing from the A’DAM Tower’s 20th floor and providing the perfectly fitting, subtle ambience for what is arguably the city’s most intense festivity of the year.

Vault Sessions Kingsnight with Oscar Mulero, Lewis Fautzi & more @ H7 Warehouse

Vault Sessions pulled it off to invite one of the most prestigious labels of the modern techno scenery and programmed their kingsnight party with a superb roster of affiliated artists. Apart from a DJ set by labelhead Oscar Mulero and the always pervasive liveset of duo Exium, the warehouse will face driving sounds from Kwartz, Reeko, Lewis Fautzi and the Vault Sessions Collective.

RADION Kingsnight with DJ Bone, Tama Sumo, Lakuti & more

RADION’s “national international celebration” cannot be missed in this year’s kingsnight selections and is unfortunately only making it more difficult to pick a location of celebration. Both the club’s main room and upper area will be opened for the festivities and present varying styles of sounds. The organization of MOOD invited DJ Bone who’ll will bring signature Detroit sounds to the main, as where Panorama Bar resident Tama Sumo and Lakuti will once again be fully equipped with a range of chic and joyful tunes, nice and fitting for the more intimate upper room.

Friday: These Guys @ NDSM Treehouse

Of course, These Guys returns to the NDSM Treehouse with their daytime King’s Day concept. The formula is simple yet extremely effective. Free entrance and an insane line up bursting of local quality. This year will give room for two stages and’ll give you the luxury of choosing between acts like Job Sifre, DJ+, Identified Patient, Mad Miran, Robert Bergman and Gamma Intel to name but a few…

VBX with Zip, Reiss & more @ Shelter

To top it off, Perlon boss Zip will take care of Shelter’s hardened crowd at VBX by night. The man behind the most influential minimal label will inevitably get everyone’s groove on and conclude this year’s King’s Day in a sublime way. Support comes from VBX residents Reiss and Frank Haag together with last-minute addition and Ukrainian talent Kristina. See you there.
