About the author
Being driven by music from a young age made me realize how lucky I am to be situated in Amsterdam and its ever growing scene of artists, events and, of course, music enthusiasts. With a focus on the feel of House, Techno and all in between, sharing my love for music in any way possible acts as a fine expressive outlet.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Friday: Zenker Brothers and Ocke W @ Sugarfactory

After playing Radion, Shelter and De School in recent years, the Zenker Brothers make their Dam comeback this Friday. Founders of the superb Ilian Tape label and pioneers of its jungly, tribal techno sound, Munich-based Marco and Dario Zenker introduced their label to the scene more than a decade ago and haven’t stopped contributing to it since. With multiple releases of extraordinary quality every year and by providing a stage for exquisite talents like Skee Mask, Stenny and Andrea, Ilian Tape has definitely positioned itself as one of the key distributors of uniquely flavoured breaks and beats. Transitioning from last week’s School garden atmosphere to a more techy Sugarfactory mood is local fav Ocke W, who’ll warm up for the Zenkers properly for sure.

Saturday: Cinema Royale @ Kopstootbar

Considering the fact that Cinema Royale will pay a visit to the centrally located Kopstootbar and the fact that a Mega Record & CD Fair takes place this Saturday, chances are great some of the convention’s most groovy records will be played that same evening. By making use of all possibilities to scour for everything containing funk, soul and spirit, Amsterdam selector Cinema Royale never fails to surprise and there’s no question his skillfully curated vinyl sets will fit Saturday’s occasion.
