Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’.
Friday: Mood II Swing & Aurelius @ Sugarfactory
It’s time for another round of house heroes in the Dam! John Ciafone & Lem Springsteen aka Mood II Swing are touching down in the Sugarfactory, and they’ll bring their rich signature house sound with them. Whereas other New York house producers went on to travel the globe and showcasing their records, Mood II Swing stayed in the studio a little longer, perfecting their style and steadily putting out garage house bangers, filled with lush jazz chords and funky bass lines. Recently they’ve become one with the decks and bring that same vibe to get you in the mood to swing (I’m sorry, I know this is really cheesy. But kinda obligatory, since it’s true).
Saturday: Georgie’s Wintergarten @ Westerweide
Georgie’s Wintergarten is known for coming up with special prerequisites for its events. Last year Georgie brought visitors of the Summer festival and refugees closer together on the soil of (where else?) Ruigoord. This same ethos of bringing people together was bared in mind for Saturday’s winter festival, as it’ll be a phoneless and pictureless festival. This way, the festival is enjoyed by being there and experiencing the moment. A great initiative that surely will provide for a unique experience. I think music will play a lesser role compared to this ethos, but for you curious minds out there: Live music, jazz, house and techno will be present.
