About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’.

Friday: Prosumer, Tama Sumo & Beesmunt Soundsystem @ Shelter

Head down to the basement where hard hitting electronic beats and spacey synths will reach your ears (even better) at Shelter this Friday. Osgut Ton team members Tama Sumo and Prosumer take on the task to haul the Berlin vibe to the Dam. Expect house in all shapes and sizes, forms and figures. But since it’s taking place at Shelter, the music will be slightly tilted towards a deeper inclination. The Dam’s duo Beesmunt Soundsystem reps the Dutch soil, and are not afraid to take you on just one step deeper, whether it’s with synth-pop, new-wave tunes or indigenous inspired records, like their latest EP.

Saturday: Terry Hunter & Mike Risk @ W Hotel

As one of the (many) ambassadors of the Chi-town sound, Terry Hunter has been a well-respected resident of the house community which started with his first release. Since then, he’s never really left the scene, bringing the soulfulness to the decks, while keeping that Chicago edge to it. His Ts Box label embraces the soulful and afro sides of house as well. The W Hotel invites him to play some records to light up your Saturday eve. Alongside him longtime Dutch househead Mike Risk brings out his repertoire, ranging from Chicago, New Jersey and New York house records, to disco and funk. Surely one to enjoy from the highest floor of the hotel in the center of the Dam.
