About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’.

Friday: More Bounce 1 year anniversary @ Canvas

One year filled with funk, boogie and disco-infused nights! More Bounce will turn one and is celebrating it up high at Canvas this Friday. The vibes at More Bounce aren’t found that often in the Dam. And since it’s their birthday, I can only imagine it being even vibier than usual. With Jarreau Vandal’s most recent moniker Ellroy behind the decks, you know it’s gonna be live. And of course, the More Bounce crew themselves will provide the additional birthday tunes, making the night complete. The old, the new, and everything in between. As long as it’s got that funk.

Saturday: PITCH @ NDSM

PITCH always brings about an unprecedented roster of artists to their festival, and this edition is no exception. With a diverse line-up like this, it doesn’t matter if you’re there for the beats from Sam Gellaitry or Sango, or for a ride on the Sadar Bahar disco train, PITCH will provide you with a new infatuation, something you might’ve never stumbled across that easily otherwise. With both international artists and talent from Dutch soil, there’re too many to name here, but I want to highlight FKJ. This multi-instrumentalist talent is really sick with it. Gloomy chords, smooth vocals and chill beats, all while performing on stage.

The last batch of tickets are still on sale, which you can cop here.

Saturday: Robert Owens, Larry de Kat & Kuma @ Sugarfactory

Living house legend Robert Owens is back at the Sugarfactory! He’ll be spinning deep and soulful records, while laying down his sweet voice, which is almost specially made for house. The statement is still one of my personal favorite records of all time. A great blend between house and its preceding genres. Prepare yourself for some Chicago goodness by someone who was there when the cornerstones of house were being placed. Larry de Kat and Kuma are behind the decks as well for this honorary celebration.

Sunday: Motor City Drum Ensemble @ Woodstock

ZeeZout invites everybody’s favorite DJ to the beach. You really can’t have any commentary on Motor City Drum Ensemble. From mixing obscure disco records to playing an amazing all over the place closing set at Dekmantel festival last year, Danilo Plessow knows how to bring the soulfulness into electronic music. Hopefully this soulfulness will chase the clouds away and open us all up to the Sun, which will make the tunes all the more enjoyable!

The weekend ain’t over til Monday comes around, so head over to Woodstock and make it worth your dam hangover. There’re still some tickets being sold at Ticketswap, make sure you grab one while you can
