About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’.

Friday: Kai Alcé & more @ Claire

Kai Alcé returns to Claire! With his soulful inclination towards house music on the one hand deck, and deeper tunes on the other, he truly is one of my favorite DJs & producers. Being part of the Sounds Familiar family, he can’t visit the Dam without family members Masalo & Kamma joining in behind the decks. Additionally, the Dam’s house scene is also repped Wendel Sield and Moody Mehran.

Saturday: Nomads Festival + Afterparty @ Riekerhaven + Radion

The festival season is in full effect! Here are 2 options for the coming weekend. Starting with Nomads festival’s fifth installment. And do they got a star-studded line-up in store for you. I’ve been applauding Nomads in the past. This year’s anniversary, legendary status DJs like Andrés, Marcellus Pittman and GE-OLOGY will provide top-shelf house and disco gems. 22Tracks is hosting a stage designated to their unique sound with Djs from Dutch soil. Peep the full line up here. And lastly, Nomads festival wouldn’t be complete without Chez Damier spinning some tunes.

If a day in the Oasis just wasn’t enough, head over to Radion, where the afterparty will take place. The dudes behind Nomads festival will be spinning the records you can dance all night to. The second room is in hands of Lumberjacks In Hell, with Mr Mendel, Marcel Vogel and Mike Shawe.

Saturday: Wicked Jazz Sounds Festival

You’re not gonna experience Tony Allen, STUFF., Omar & Mark de Clive-Lowe, Lefto and Moods (just to name some of my favorites, hit the links to get an idea what they’re playing) at one event if it’s not Wicked Jazz Sounds Festival. Ranging from funk, soul, gospel, afro-beat and hip-hop, The Wicked Jazz crew ensembles an wicked line-up to stray a bit from the mainly dance-inclined festivals.
