For the second edition of Going Places, Pllek is taking you to Africa with Afrolijk. Food, art, film and funky beats will make you reflect on Africa in a different manner, as the world is changing. Join this cultural trip and see local African artists to celebrate diversity as well as creativity and community.
A cultural trip beyond the horizon
The event is divided into three parts and the first is on June 9. Book your afro veggie food cook ChefAngie Bee and be there to have dinner at 21:00, and after that you can enjoy watching movies in the open air. On display this time are Bonjour Stromae and Afripidia, which was released in 2014. It’s a five-part documentary by a Swedish afro collective about a new generation of talent to make you discover three countries. Travel to the hotspots of African cultural production and pass by Ghana to see musicians and street performers, Senegal to see designers, photographers and dancers, and Angola to see the unleashed Kudoro revolution.
Art is the center of this evening party to make you learn about Africa. Therefore, an exhibition will be displayed with collages, drawings, texts or photos from Afriek to show their design, ans La Fabrica de Sabao to show their vision on Angola until July 28. At the end of the night you’re invited to join Pllek’s club for a cheerful party and Afrobeats of DJ Joss & Flo, and Nartacia. The best is that the admission is free; and if you can’t come this time, the other Going Places events take place on July 28 (Reggae) and August 18 (Latinoamerica), but more coming soon… Anyway, enough food-learning days to party this summer!
