About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’.

Friday: Vrijland Festival @ Blijburg aan Zee

Blijburg aan Zee will definitely be a spot from which you’ll be hearing more this summer, as it’s a type of space that has been missing in Amsterdam. Vrijland Festival will be using the location this Friday for a first day on the beach. With a big ass line-up spread out across five stages, designated to what suits you best: hip-hop, house, disco and techno. You can check out the full line-up here.

Saturday: Ge-ology & Detroit Swindle @ Claire

Ge-ology doesn’t think in terms of separate tracks nor musical styles, but rather seeing music as spiritual energy. As a true genre bender he breaks down barriers behind the decks and bends records which you’d never thought be fit to mix after each other. DJing aside, his influences range from jazz, soul, disco and hip-hop. The latter of which he produced records for Mos Def and Black Star On this Saturday he is invited by Detroit Swindle and Claire to showcase his sublime skills to you and your ears. Where else have you ever seen acid records being played backwards and upside down, mixed in with the same track on the other side of the deck?
