DJ Isis is one of the female pioneers in the tech-house music scene. She started her career in 1992 at the age of 17 at at the infamous club RoXY. Known as 100% ISIS at the beginning, she never bound herself to one singular musical approach and changed her alias to Isis in 2006, to prove that she grew up but is still able to renew herself. This Saturday she commemorates her 25th year of techno with a six-hour solo set.
Celebrate 25 years of talent…
With her hypnotic and acoustic style, DJ Isis began an international career DJing as support for a private concert of Prince in 1992 (some way to start a career!), and she played in front of 100.000 persons at the Climate Summit in Copenhagen. She was recognized globally in 2002 when she was ranked in the top 10 female DJs worldwide.
She even works for the King (yes, the King!); since she presented her work to Willem Alexander in 2009, the May 5 committee declared this woman Ambassador of Liberty for the Dutch Independence Day. This allows her to joins the Queen for the annual remembrance ceremony. She’s also monitoring Amsterdam nightlife as the current Night Mayor, building bridges between local politicians, entrepreneurs, and their audience.
Dj Isis surely is a not-to-miss woman in the techno-house scene, and her title remains thanks to her ability to renew herself. Her musical culture isn’t bound to techno and she already mixed a shortened version of Beethoven’s 9th symphony. Since she celebrated 20 years of music at Paradiso, she still is a special guest to run the show for her 25th anniversary.
… and celebrate Beltane
Isis will bring together 25 years of musical experience during a six-hour solo set, accompanied by a visual VJ show from Spinsekt. The other halls will be full too, with different kinds of music to dance on. Kraut combines ethnic style with electro, Trippin Jaguar will throw deep tribal tracks to create immersive and driving grooves, and Yør Kultura will bring the dancefloor into higher spheres.
It’ll be an ethnic party to celebrate Beltane, an old European festival to honor the fertile period and the return of light. Nightwatch will sell their drinks to support the Amazon in protecting jungle. Needless to say, there’s also a dress code: as long as you wear flowers, leaves, plants or weaves, you can celebrate Beltane & Isis’ 25 years of music talent.
