About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’.

Friday: Cookin’ w/ Duke Hugh @ Canvas

Cookin’ makes the list two weeks in a row. Duke Hugh returns to the place where it all started for him: Canvas. The producer from Groningen met Rhythm Section‘s label owner at a club night in Canvas, gave him a demo and subsequently got signed to the label. A perfect success , story right here. It’s well deserved too, as you listen to his (aptly called) Canvas album. His jazzy infused and ill-syncopated beats provide for a great vibe, that takes influence from classic house, broken beat, soul, jazz and many others. As you can see it’s quite hard to pinpoint this guy, which makes his music all the more amazing. Hugh will be cooking a freshly mixed meal of these genres and serve ‘em to you right through the speakers.

Saturday: Kuma w/ Session Victim & Nachtbraker @ Sugarfactory

With German duo Session Victim two things are certain: you’ll be hearing some music you never heard before, and you won’t know from what musical angle it’s coming. With a disregard for boundaries between dance styles, they blend them all together in a vinyl set this Saturday. Aided by Nachtbraker and KUMA themselves, the night will be a musical ride for sure.
