This month there’s a lot going on in Amsterdam, April just might be my favorite month when it comes to events. Not only do we celebrate King’s Night and Day but there are A LOT of sample sales and other great events. But one of my favorite things happening in April is the Amsterdam Denim Days, during this week the city will turn Indigo Blue.
The Amsterdam Denim Days will take place from April 17 to 23. Amsterdam is often called ‘the denim capital of the world’ and the last few editions were so successful that they’re even organizing a spinoff in New York! As a typically Dutch girl I’m wearing denim practically every day. So for me (and a lot of other Amsterdammmers) this is a great festival!
During the festival you can visit one of the many free events from the City Center Program, or you can visit the Blueprint Festival at the Westergasterrein.
City Center Program
Expect a seven-day denim experience! A lot of denim shops will host special product launches combined with presentations, exhibitions and more. Here are some treasure hunt tips:
- Calvin Klein Jeans (PC Hoofdstraat 105) – During the festival you can turn your portrait into a pop art masterpiece in the Calvin Klein Jeans Booth.
Ottorized (Overtoom 95a) – Take a bike tour from a denim specialist on a beautiful wooden bike, from April 17 to 23, from 4pm to 5pm. RSVP by sending an email to email@example.com.
Lee (Wolvenstraat 8) – Unleash your creativity: come over to the Lee store and customize your own jeans. Lee’s sewing machine, patches and staff are waiting for you.
The highlight of the Amsterdam Denim Days is nevertheless the two-day event on Westergasterrein, better known as Blueprint Festival. On April 21 and 22 this the place for fashion-forward lovers of denim. Expect an event with the best denim brands, seminars, expos, vintage treasure hunting, music, food & drinks, workshops and much more to explore.
