It’s hard to imagine right now, but in little over a month’s time we’ll be literally dancing our socks off to a mixture of amazing live acts and electro’s finest. Feet in the sand, hands in the air – let’s celebrate our King’s birthday just the way we would celebrate our own. Although he is one lucky guy – having KiNK, Âme, Bicep and many more perform on his 50th birthday bash.. We all wish.

Oranjebloesem, the Oasis

While lots of men, women and kids travel towards the city center of Amsterdam, ready to tear down the canal streets – you’re offered the option of escaping the crowds and sounds of traditional Dutch folklore. At the east side of the city you’ll find an oasis called Blijburg beach, where the fourth edition of Oranjebloesem will take place. And boy oh boy do they have a paradise parade planned for us!

Not your traditional King’s day

Last year – even while freezing our ears off – the festival was a huge success. We know by now that they’ve got the good names, they know how to plan a party and how to get an audience of likeminded electronic music lovers, loving life. I am sure I’m not alone here when I say we were all appreciating the tunes that were so far from what you usually get served at a traditional King’s day party.

Turn. It. Up.

This year Oranjebloesem is turning it up a notch. Besides the usual comfortingly consistent beats of international and local heroes like Bicep, Optimo, Beesmunt Soundsystem and – one of my personal favourites – Tsepo, we’re treated to the shows of awesome electronic live acts. Jungle by Night will wave their musical wands and put a smile on your face that cannot be wiped away. And did I mention KiNK & Âme? Needless to say the #1 and #4 on the list of ‘best electronic live-acts’ – according to Resident Advisor, and well, most people – are going to rock the dedicated live stage like you think you can only dream they will.

It’s redundant to say, since Oranjebloesem is exactly where you want to be when this is your scene, but get your ticket now (that is, if you haven’t already got one ready in another tab). I will see you there to say our cheerful ‘Cheers to the King!’
