Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.
Friday: Percolate w/ Mall Grab @ Chicago Social Club
It’s time for the perculator! The British organization Percolate returns to the Dam and brings dance music’s favorite Aussie to the Social. His stripped-down and dusted-up beats are truly infectious. Add to that the simple, yet very catchy melodies and you’ve got yourself a Mall Grab banger right there. Using internet aesthetics and sampling this dude was bound to be known. His sets range from distorted and almost not recognizable hip hop cuts, to the earlier mentioned lo-fi tracks. But Mall Grab also has his way of homaging classic house and techno records, which he incorporates as well. As you can see, it’s quite hard to pinpoint this dude, and that’s exactly what makes him a dope artist. He’s accompanied by Damiano Von Erckert, Sova and Wanderingbear, of which the last two are residents from the ever cool Bam Boe.
We’re giving away 2×2 guest list spots for Percolate! All you have to do is answer the following question: Which was Mall Grab’s breakthrough record? Honorary bonus question/hint: Which song does he sample in it? You can comment to the post on our Facebook page to participate, we’ll announce the winner Thursday morning.
Friday: Klokwerk @ OT301
OT301 is one cozy ass club, which makes it perfect for a intimate disco-infused party. And that’s exactly what Klokwerk is presenting this Friday. With TITIA, Gratts and Robin up for the task this won’t be a problem at all. I just now discovered Gratts, and damn does he know how to mix beautiful records. Have a listen and let yourself be convinced below.
Weekend: Vierentwintiguurcultuur @ Radion
Celebrating 24-hour club culture with an extended weekend event, Radion houses a lot of international and local DJs this weekend, which you can check out here. 52 hours filled to the brim with every type of dance music you can imagine. It’s very hard with a roster as this one to take a previewing pick, so I just went with two. One set from Lola Villa, which is a slow house set with indigenous vibes written all over it. The other is Tim Zwerver, a dude who knows his house music. Are you up for the task to keep on (almost literally) dancing your ass off this weekend? Surely your hangover will extend to the beginning of the next week, but it’s worth it!
