We’re facing sad times when it comes to BBQs in Amsterdam, since it is forbidden in the Vondelpark since yesterday. Hundreds of people came to celebrate this last Vondelpark barbecue, as several events sprung up the last couple of weeks. But don’t worry, here are some other (cooler) places you can’t miss to achieve a BBQ day.
Oosterpark
This one is located close to the east part of the city center, and is the first big park built by the city. To bike, learn about slavery history, or just relax, this is the ideal place. But you can just sit there and have yourself a nice barbecue.
Flevopark
Located in the east, this quiet place will remind you how nature important is, with its big green lushes and water areas. Not to mention the biodiversity that prevails in this park, which welcomes the singing of birds as musical background. After a good BBQ (at specified places), you can even swim there!
Rembrandtpark
It’s probably one of the largest park of the city, but it’s also a calm one. Located in the west it’s perfect to relax between the trees and ponds, while the kids are playing. You can also visit the oldest kids zoo of Amsterdam, with peacocks and horses, or pigs.
Erasmuspark
Neat and peaceful, this park is just ten minutes away from the Rembrandtpark but quite smaller and surrounded by canals, making it look more intimate. Be sure to look for the designated areas though!
Sloterpark
Last but not least, the Sloterpark is one of the biggest parks in the city. Far from the city center but more enjoyable to diveinto the lake after a good barbecue…
