Social media are a big thing in our daily life. You wake up with it and fall asleep with your energy-sucking smartphone. I don’t think this is a love it or hate it kind of thing, it’s like brushing your teeth in morning or wiping your butt. But it still feels a bit frustrating; why are we sharing everything about our lives? Why do I want to share that particular song that’s in my head right now?
Think about it
This kind of thinking topics are popping up at one of my favorite websites, and now they are doing something new; going offline instead of staying online. The View Concepts tries to create new perspectives on daily topics, to think beyond what your mind can reach.
In one evening they’ll talk about online versus offline as a topic with good thinking people; people that can truly inspire you, like Olga Kortz from I-D Netherlands. Besides a lot of listening and talking, your eyes will be treated as well. There will be an exhibition with work from Michelle Helena Janssen (photographer and contributor to GLAMCULT), Tobias Groot (Gerrit Rietveld Academie) and Sophie de Vos (ArtEZ Graduated) who are critical thinkers as well.
This might be a good excuse to start working on your language skills, since the entire event is in Dutch.
