About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Friday: Octave One, DJ Bone & Vince Watson @ Shelter

Detroit is in the house! If you wanna get down to top-shelf techno from the Motor City, head down to Shelter tonight. The duo Octave One brings the raw cuts with their extensive live set up, providing the true essence of electronic music. DJ Bone will be present as well, putting his unrivaled DJ skills to display. And as icing on this musical cake, Vince Watson, who’s Eminesense EP is definitely worth the listen, adds his atmospheric track selection to the night.

Saturday: Osunlade’s Yoruba Soul Orchestra by Brighter Days @ Tolhuistuin

Brighter Days and Ticket To The Tropics are making moves! This Saturday, they invite you to a spiritual journey through the musical realm of Osunlade and his Yoruba Soul Orchestra, a live band consisting of artists from his record label. Starting out as a soulful house and deep house producer and DJ, Osunlade has attained a legendary status in creating an euphoric atmosphere with his tunes. With the Yoruba Soul Orchestra, he’s still going for the same vibe, but in a more organic sense. Taking influences from soul, jazz, funk and the Yoruba tribe and their Ifa religion, one thing can be assured: spirits will definitely be lifted at the Tolhuistuin! Brighter Days’ residents KAMMA and Masalo and Ticket To The Tropics residents KC the Funkaholic and Roel de Boer will top the night off, with Osunlade himself also spinning some tunes. Grab a ticket here.
