Now this is an event to my heart! During the BIG Secondhand SALE next week you can buy yourself some cool secondhand pieces and even help others while doing so. What more could you want?!
The concept of the sale, hosted by Gelukszoekers (freely translatable to ‘foundation for happiness seekers’), is pretty simple: they collect (your) clothes that you no longer want, which gives you a tidy closet and the clothes get a new life. Anyone can score/buy a new outfit during the event, in a sustainable and responsible manner, and all proceeds go to charity. This time 50% goes to Gelukszoekers and 50% to the Syrian Volunteers Foundation Netherlands. Check out this video to get an impression of what to expect:

Last year’s sale was a massive success, with many organizations receiving donations. A car full of stuff went to We Care And Share in Rotterdam, 20 boxes/bags filled with shoes, hats, scarves and gloves were brought to Movement On The Ground, 35 garbage bags with winter coats were dropped off at the refugee center in the former Bijlmer prison, and loads of sports clothes went to Don Bosco’s project for homeless youngsters.
Want to donate clothes? Just come by! Want to earn extra karma points? Donate (new!) (thermic) underwear, games and books in English, Arabic, Greek and Farsi, educational kits, toys or mobile phones (preferably with charger).
More than enough reason to get up, donate and score a new outfit!
