Treasure Hunt is a collaboration between Overdose.am and Schatzoekers Amsterdam. We’ll tell you all about an event or hotspot you absolutely can not miss this month! More Treasure Hunt here.
Go on holiday in your own city! It’s almost time for Hotelnacht (‘hotel night’) again. In the weekend of January 14 and 15 it’s our time to be the tourist, as you can book a room for a lot less money than usual in Amsterdam. This year there are loads of special hotels participating, and you can choose from three different categories: Creative, Premium or Luxury hotels.
During Hotelnacht there is a lot going on. Next to waking up in a different bed, you can visit many kinds of cultural, creative and culinary events. Imagine yourself being a tourist for the weekend, in your own city and get to know Amsterdam even better. It’s a great initiative! These are my three favorite events:
Cocktail Curling
On Saturday, the SkyLounge of Floor17 will be entirely devoted to curling. You know that super weird sport where someone throws (what looks like) a kettle on the ice and another one sweeps the ice so it apparently goes faster(?). Certainly not your typical Saturday afternoon activity. For that reason alone, it’s fun to give it a try.
Royal VIP afternoon tea
During Hotelnacht Afternoon Tea will be served in the Royal Suite of the legendary Krasnapolsky Hotel. A ‘normal’ High/Afternoon tea at Krasnapolsky is of course allready a real treat, and has been on my wish list for a while now. During the event the tea will be served in the Royal Suite, so the setting is even more special then it normally is. For just €35,- you’ll have an unforgettable experience!
Star Brunch at Vermeer
On Sunday it’s possible to have brunch at the Michelin star restaurant Vermeer. The three-course brunch will cost you just €36,50 per person. Seeing they normally don’t do lunch, it really is a great opportunity to go and eat somewhere you normally might not be able to afford.
A ticket for the overall event costs €17,50 – or €25,- if you want to attend the end party, which I think you do. Have fun pretending to be a tourist in Amsterdam!
