About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. While there isn’t a special occasion, sometimes, just sometimes, a weekend is filled with some good parties that make you forget about the weekly woes by pleasuring your ears. This weekend happens to be exactly that.

Friday: House Legends with Mike Huckaby @ Chicago Social Club

House Legends keep their name high by inviting yet another musical legend, and this time he’s hailing from Detroit. This Friday, DJ, producer and teacher Mike Huckaby is gonna light up the Chicago Social Club. Get ready for some top-shelf dreamy deep house from the golden era. He’s accompanied by Tim Zwerver and Eric Lourenssen.

Saturday: O.W.A.P. Intiem with Todd Terry @ De Marktkantine

Madness ensues for sure this Saturday, as O.W.A.P. will color up De Marktkantine with confetti, smiley faces and house music in the old school fashion they’re known for. The vibe O.W.A.P emulates is unparalleled, and does a pretty good job at taking you back to the glorious days. To emphasize that vibe they’ve invited their good friend Todd Terry, who really embodies the term ‘a household name’ – his early productions had a big influence on the development of house music. The Dutch house scene is represented as well, with Benny Rodrigues, Eric de Man and resident Mike Risk giving the wheels a spin.

Saturday: Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! 7 Year Anniversary @ Claire

In commemoration of their seven-year anniversary, Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! managed to bring best of both worlds together in Claire. On the one hand, everybody’s new school favorite Mall Grab will be making his debut in Amsterdam. The Australian mate took the scene by storm with his sample-heavy lo-fi house cuts. On the other hand, beside him, is Detroit’s unsung hero Scott Grooves, bringing soulfulness to the decks.
