About the author
Jerry is the name, online is my game. I'm a digital enthusiast, ranging from old skool gaming and Space Invaders to iPads and social media. The integration of digital elements in everyday life and art have my particular interest, and besides that I'm part time rockaholic.

Mr. Brainwash is the moniker of street/pop artist Thierry Guetta, who’s opening his exhibition Amsterdam is Beautiful at the Wanrooij Gallery today. A somewhat unique event, since it will be the first gallery in the Netherlands to expose his works.

Mr. Brainwash was born in France and raised in Los Angeles, and he has been pushing pop culture’s envelope for almost a decade. His art is based on positive messages to remind people that life is beautiful and that there is beauty everywhere. The beauty of art is that you can leave a mark in the world; even a little statement can make a difference. As a matter of fact, his first exhibit, and many after that, where named Life Is Beautiful.

Mr. Brainwash is well known for his large installations and celebrity collaborations with Madonna, Rihanna, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys and Pelé, to name just a few. His art incorporates splashes of color around both historical and recent motifs of known figures, ranging from Albert Einstein and Marilyn Monroe to Kate Moss and Michael Jackson. Mr. Brainwash is also the curious character who first came to wider attention in Banksy’s Exit Through the Gift Shop.

Wanrooij Gallery will be exhibiting a new collection of his works, on display throughout December, so you have more than enough time to see for yourself how beautiful Amsterdam really is. But of course you already knew that…
